Sampdoria owner Andrea Radrizzani is keen on a reunion with former Leeds United manager Garry Monk.
That is according to SampNews24, who report Monk is among the contenders to come in as their new manager, if Andrea Pirlo is relieved of his duties.
Monk and Radrizzani only briefly crossed paths with each other at Leeds, with the Italian having purchased an initial 50% of the club from Massimo Cellino in January 2017.
Radrizzani then completed his full buyout just over five months later, just two days before Monk decided to leave Elland Road after a year in charge.
Monk had overseen one of Leeds’ best seasons in a number of years and so his exit was a shock to everyone, with the reason for his exit cited as them being unable to reach an agreement, as per BBC Sport.

Monk has been out of work now for almost three years, with his last job in management ending at Sheffield Wednesday in November 2020.
It is unclear at this stage how much substance these reports from Italy have as of yet, with Pirlo still officially in charge having only been appointed in June.
However, Sampdoria have endured a terrible start to the season under Radrizzani’s ownership, as they sit in the Serie B relegation zone with just one win and two draws from eight matches.
Radrizzani saved Sampdoria from financial ruin in the summer, a debacle which saw them deducted two points at the start of the season, but after relegation from Serie A last term, they would’ve expected a better start.
If Radrizzani was to bring in Monk, it would certainly be interesting to see how he gets on given how long he has been out of the game.
