Report: 26-year-old now set to leave Leeds after agreeing loan deal

Marc Roca is set to seal a loan switch to Real Betis with his Leeds United exit now described as ‘imminent’.

That is according to Mundo Deportivo, who report Betis have beaten off competition from rivals Sevilla for Roca’s signature, with the La Liga side covering his wages in full and not paying a loan fee.

It remains unclear as to whether an option-to-buy clause will be included in the deal, though Roca is a player Betis have been chasing for some time.

Betis were keen on signing Roca from Bayern Munich 12 months ago, but due to financial issues, were beaten to the punch by Leeds.

Roca, though, was unable to help keep Leeds in the Premier League having been a regular during the season, and looks set to be the first player to jump ship this summer.

As mentioned, Roca looks set to be the first of many to move on from Elland Road this summer after playing a major role in the club’s relegation.

Midfield is an area that will need a revamp and with his wages now off the books, it could allow them to begin pursuing some of their major targets.

That said, Leeds cannot afford to accept too many loan deals for their players over the course of the transfer window, as it is paramount they bring in some fees they can themselves reinvest.

Additionally, if a loan spell does not go as anticipated, it could see them return to Leeds next summer with their value having fallen to the point they are making significant losses on players.

Leeds will, at times, need to play hard ball in the market and if that means keeping some of their better players, then so be it.
