Rene Maric has broken his silence on social media after he was part of the coaching team to leave Leeds United following the sacking of Jesse Marsch this week.

Marsch’s departure was announced on Monday. It comes with Leeds sat just outside the bottom three in the Premier League. The final straw proved to be the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Marsch and his staff were backed by the fans for much of his tenure. The American comes across as an outstanding bloke, even if some of his comments frustrated the supporters at times.

Unfortunately, it proved to be the wrong move for all parties. Ultimately, Marsch was unable to take the side forward after keeping them in the top-flight last season.

Maric joined the coaching staff in the summer, with Leeds appointing him as assistant head coach. The 30-year-old had previously worked for the likes of Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.

And he also helped take charge for the game with Aston Villa earlier this season with Marsch banned from the touchline. That game ended in a goalless draw.

The Austrian has now taken to Twitter to comment on his departure. And he has posted an incredibly classy message to the Leeds fans.

Clearly, Maric is incredibly disappointed that it did not work out. But the brilliant post will go down well with supporters…

There is clearly a lot of potential within the now-former coaching team. Leeds had some bright moments under Marsch. And he may well go on to enjoy success elsewhere.

Unfortunately, it was simply not a match which worked out for Marsch or Leeds. Here is hoping that the next appointment brings more success.
