Sue Smith says Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison produced a ‘moment of absolute brilliance’ for Everton today.
Smith was speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday during Everton’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, in which Harrison was handed his full league debut.
Harrison has been eased back to full fitness by Sean Dyche in recent weeks after recovering from the hip injury that kept him out of the entirety of Leeds’ pre-season.
Having impressed from the start in the Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa last month, Harrison was finally given his first Premier League start, and he certainly made an impression.
Harrison both scored and assisted as Everton picked up a crucial first home victory of the season, with his goal having been singled out for particular praise.
Smith praises Harrison’s ‘moment of absolute brilliance’
With Neto off his line after punching clear a cross, Harrison expertly chipped the Bournemouth goalkeeper with a first time effort from the edge of the area, which Smith has hailed as a moment of ‘brilliance’.
“It’s Jack Harrison with a moment of absolute brilliance. Just really composed, he plays it over the top of Neto. You have to question the position of the goalkeeper but it’s a brilliant finish from Harrison.”
Having seen the goal, it is difficult to disagree with Smith’s description as it really was an unbelievable composed finish that not many would have the technique to pull off.
Harrison appears to have had a really good start to his career at Everton with the hip injury that plagued him at the end of last season seemingly behind him.
Should he continue the form he has shown today, there is little doubt Everton will look to make it permanent if they are able to stay up.
