Football Scotland claim that Rangers have decided not to hire Stuart Webber as the Ibrox club’s new sporting director amid reports suggesting they were interested – amid reports Leeds could hire him.
Webber, 39, remains on the payroll at Norwich City despite announcing his departure from the club ahead of last summer. Pink Un state that his contract is due to expire at Carrow Road in March 2024.
He will remain in the role unless Norwich appoint a replacement, which they are yet to do – or, Webber picks a new club before that date. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, in regards to his future.
The Sun claimed earlier this week that Rangers were looking at possibly appointing Webber. The Ibrox side are yet to bring in a replacement for Ross Wilson, who left to join Nottingham Forest in the summer.
But, Football Scotland deliver an update. They state Rangers will not be hiring him, with Webber ‘touted’ to take over at Leeds. A boyhood Leeds fan, the Pink Un say that Webber has held talks with Leeds.

Leeds do have people in place when it comes to organising transfers. Victor Orta’s exit saw the Leeds board change the way they do things – removing the pressure on one person, and spreading it around.
The 49ers deemed that Orta had too much control. Right now, Nick Hammond is at Leeds on what is deemed a temporary contract, while Gretar Steinsson has been brought in from Tottenham Hotspur.
It is unclear whether Hammond will remain long-term, with a decision yet to be confirmed. Webber continues to be linked with us. It will be interesting to see if he does join the club he supported as a boy.
