The 49ers have struck an agreement in principle to take over at Rangers with a deal expected to be done soon, and now The Gers could hire a manager recently sacked by Leeds United.
Despite a busy summer approaching for Leeds United, The 49ers and Paraag Marathe have decided to take a leap and begin their ultimate aim which is to build a multi-club model much like Manchester City’s.
Leeds are the first club bought by The 49ers’ investment arm, 49ers’ Enterprises. Marathe is now expected to strike a deal to buy Rangers, with The 49ers set to be in place at Rangers before the start of next term.
The first order of business, if Marathe has any say currently will be to hire a new manager. Philippe Clement was sacked by The Gers after a loss at St. Mirren, with Barry Ferguson in caretaker charge.

Jesse Marsch touted as possible candidate for Rangers job
The American was sacked by Leeds United little over two years ago. A decision that Marathe would have been involved in, though Andrea Radrizzani had the majority share at Leeds when Marsch was axed.
Indeed, Marsch has since said Radrizzani lost his nerve when sacking him at Elland Road. The American has since taken over Canada, where he has impressed – taking Canada to the Copa America semi-finals.
TeamTalk say Marsch has been touted with replacing Clement at Rangers, though it is unclear if he is ready to leave his post as Canada manager. He is contracted to Canada until after the 2026 World Cup.

The other candidates being considered by Rangers and Marathe
Ibrox legend Ferguson will remain in his role as caretaker manager until the end of the season, with The Gers well out of the Premiership title race. In that time, Marathe and Rangers will be eyeing a manager.
Marsch is one option but there are plenty of other names being linked. Former hardman Kevin Muscat, who is currently in charge of Chinese Super League side Shanghai Port, is another name on the shortlist.
Steven Gerrard is out of work after leaving Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq and could make a return to Rangers, while former Ibrox defender Russell Martin and Sean Dyche have also been linked with a move.
