Leeds United have one more game to play before the March international break interrupts the race for automatic promotion from the Championship, a trip to QPR on Saturday.
After a two-game slip against West Brom and Portsmouth in which Daniel Farke’s side obtained just one point, Leeds managed to get back to winning ways at Elland Road with a solid-ish 2-0 win over Millwall.
An own goal and a beautiful finish from Ao Tanaka saw Leeds secure a 23rd Championship win of the season, going two points clear of Sheffield United and four in front of Burnley with nine games to play.
Leeds now take on QPR at Loftus Road. In the same fixture last season, The Whites were smashed 4-0 and their automatic promotion race died, leaving Ipswich Town and Leicester City to finish first and second.

Sam Parkin predicts how many points Leeds will win in next three
Football League legend Sam Parkin has told Benjamin Bloom’s podcast that he expects Leeds to be a lot better than they were in that 4-0 defeat last term – with Leeds then facing struggling Swansea and Luton.
Indeed, Parkin has predicted just how many points Leeds will win from their next three games. He says that even The Whites getting a draw against QPR is not the end of the world – expecting seven points.
“That [QPR’s 4-0 win over Leeds last season] will serve fresh in the memory and the night the automatic promotion dream started to falter, so they will have to be a lot better than they were on that night.
“But QPR were a nine and Leeds were a five. I don’t see that happening on the back of the Portsmouth defeat, Farke will be into them. These three games I expect them to take seven points from, minimum.”
Why Leeds United can be confident in the race to finish first…
With nine games to go and the possibility of clocking up a total of 106 points if they win their next nine games, Leeds are in an excellent position. Even better, the quality of opposition they face is lacking.
| Date | Opponent | Venue | League position | Reverse fixture result |
| 15 March | QPR | Loftus Road | 14th | 2-0 Win |
| 29 March | Swansea | Elland Road | 16th | 4-3 Win |
| 5 April | Luton | Kenilworth Road | 23rd | 3-0 Win |
| 8 April | Middlesbrough | Riverside | 8th | 3-1 Win |
| 12 April | Preston | Elland Road | 15th | 1-1 Draw |
| 18 April | Oxford | Kassam Stadium | 20th | 4-0 Win |
| 21 April | Stoke | Elland Road | 19th | 2-0 Win |
| 26 April | Bristol City | Elland Road | 7th | 0-0 Draw |
| 3 May | Plymouth | Home Park | 24th | 3-0 Win |
Just two of the remaining nine opponents sit in the top half of the table, and none in the top six. If Leeds mirror their reverse fixture results against the nine sides, they will obtain 23 points – reaching 102.
Not only that, but Burnley and Sheffield United have to play each other and that means, one of those sides if not both, will drop points. Leeds then can feel confident that promotion is a real likelihood.
