Sam Allardyce has told his No Tippy Tappy Football podcast that he is confident Leeds United will avoid relegation to the Championship this season – but highlights an issue the club have under Jesse Marsch, describing it as a “problem”.
Leeds currently sit in 15th place and just a point above the relegation zone. However, Marsch’s men do have a game in hand over every team in the bottom half of the Premier League table. So, it is a good basis on which to build now.
But can we? The signings of Weston McKennie, Max Wober and Georginio Rutter certainly improve our chances. Leeds’ spending in January, if add-ons and permanent clauses are met, could see Leeds splash out a huge £85m on the trio.
So, Leeds have bolstered their ranks – losing Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich. A good window for Leeds and fans are happy, for once, with the work Victor Orta and the board have done. Allardyce gave his take on Leeds and relegation.
“I think so [they’ll stay up]. One of their problems has been getting the ball in the back of the net. They have created but not been able finish. Leeds seem to create the chances but do not have the right guy to put the ball in the net.”

Allardyce has not done his homework. In the Premier League, Leeds have scored 26 goals – the second-highest from tenth and below. They have scored four more than Chelsea. Only Leicester in the bottom half have move, with 28.
The issue with Leeds is that while we create chances and do score goals, we struggle to deal with the counter attack. When opposition break our press. We have seen it time after time. But the addition of Wober can give fans hope.
