Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Premier League trio Burnley, Brentford and Crystal Palace have all made bids this summer for Sunderland star Jack Clarke – and Leeds United have got to throw their hat into the ring for the winger.
Clarke, 22, was sold by Victor Orta in 2019 – after having a hand in four goals in 25 games. Raking in a £10m fee for Clarke, Leeds sold the winger to Tottenham. He struggled, initially returning to Leeds but only playing three times.
Then, loans to Stoke and QPR came next – again, struggling. He was forced to drop into League One, linking up with Sunderland. He had a hand in five goals in 20 games in a half-season spell, helping Sunderland gain promotion.
A move was made permanent and this season, sublime. Despite the step up in competition with the Black Cats, the ace has had a hand in 24 goals in 50 games. He has been one of Sunderland’s best, as they reached the play-offs.
But after missing out on promotion, Premier League clubs are keen. Romano reports that Brentford, Burnley and Palace want Clarke – making bids. Surely, Leeds are going to need a winger and Clarke is the ideal summer signing.

Firstly, Leeds will need a winger this summer. When you look at the squad, you fully expect Jack Harrison and Willy Gnonto to go. Luis Sinisterra is not going to stick around in the Championship. Crysencio Summerville, maybe stays.
But that leaves Leeds with one recognised winger from the four senior options. We need to bring in a wide man and ideally, before the club sells the likes of Harrison or Gnonto. Clarke would be the absolutely perfect winger signing.
Not least, because he is a Leeds boy through and through. But also, because he has shown that he is perfect for the Championship with his 22-23 campaign. Bringing Clarke back for a third spell makes sense, Ian Harte is his agent.
