Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is reportedly on his way to Tottenham as a replacement for Hugo Lloris in goal, and it could be a goalkeeper that Leeds sold in 2022 to replace him – in the form of in-form Bari star Elia Caprile.
The Athletic, among many other outlets, report that 26-year-old Vicario is set to join Spurs from Empoli as boss Ange Postecoglou closes in on his first signing since joining from Celtic. Empoli are now looking for a replacement.
A report from TMW says that Caprile could be the man Empoli turn to to replace Vicario. Caprile of course, joined Leeds in January 2020. While he never made a senior outing, he warmed the first-team bench, an U21 regular.

He went to Pro Patria for 2021-22 on loan, and then joined Bari on a permanent basis last summer. He starred as Bari missed out on promotion by a whisker, finishing in third. He kept an impressive 16 clean sheets in 43 games.
Just 37 goals conceded in that time. Oh, how Leeds could do with Caprile back at Leeds right now, with Illan Meslier and Joel Robles likely to go. Caprile could replace Vicario. CalcioNapoli24 say Napoli and Benfica are also keen.
Vicario on way to Tottenham: Caprile could replace after Leeds sold him

Of course, Caprile needed to go out on loan and then leave Leeds to realise his potential. But his form at Bari has been exceptional and those in Italy are rating him as highly as becoming a future Italy goalkeeper. Huge potential.
Perhaps, Leeds sold him too early. You would have to say that if he was still at Leeds and had gone on loan to Bari last year, he would return with the chance of becoming our no.1. But instead, he could be in Serie A with Empoli.
