Phil Hay has reported on The Athletic that three other Leeds United players could join Sam Greenwood in leaving the club before Friday’s deadline – with Middlesbrough set to strike a season-long loan deal.
Greenwood, 21, looks set to join Michael Carrick’s side. Hay claims he is not in Daniel Farke’s immediate plans. That is despite coming on at Salford and immediately impressing, hitting the bar from a free-kick.
He also took our first penalty in the shootout, scoring with aplomb. But with Leeds looking to sign an attacking midfielder, Greenwood looks set to go. He joins a side that are likely to be up there with Leeds.
He is not the only player that could leave Leeds before the deadline on Friday. Hay reports that Darko Gyabi may also go on loan – while Leo Hjelde and Cody Drameh are also likely to be packing their bags.

A shame, because Greenwood is a serious talent. A player that still has a future at Leeds but does need the platform to go and show Leeds what he can do when first choice. Hopefully, he gets that at Boro.
Under an excellent manager in Carrick in a side that should be pushing for promotion, Greenwood will be backed to shine in the Championship. He has three years left on the five-year deal he signed in 2021.
Hjelde has struggled in all of the games he has played this season and leeds could sign a left-back. The signing of Djed Spence sees Drameh go, with the latter’s deal due to expire at the end of the season.
Finally, £5m Gyabi was expected to have an impact this season. But with Leeds signing Ethan Ampadu, and the breakthrough of Archie Gray, he is struggling to get a game. He may need a year out on loan.
