Victor Orta is set for his first job since being sacked by Leeds United with a return to Sevilla now close to completion.
That is according to the Athletic, who report his arrival in Spain will go through once the ‘finer details’ of the deal are completed.
It is a relatively quick turnaround in terms of jobs for Orta having only been sacked by Leeds at the beginning of last month, after around six years in his role at Leeds.
Orta is set to replace Monchi in the role of Sevilla’s sporting director after he left his role at the Europa League champions to join Aston Villa last week.
Aside from a two-year stint at Roma between 2017 and 2019, Monchi had been at Sevilla since 2000, with Orta having worked under him for seven years during his first spell.

Orta was sacked from his position as director of football at Leeds after a series of poor decisions led the club to the brink of relegation.
The 44-year-old was the man who hired Jesse Marsch as Marcelo Bielsa’s replacement and was also reportedly the figure in the boardroom who backed the American for so long despite a dismal run of results.
His appointment of Javi Gracia was too an abject failure, while his recruitment across the last few transfer windows has really failed to hit the mark.
Leeds fans will certainly be surprised to see Orta has landed another job of this magnitude so soon after his failure at Elland Road.
Sevilla are set to play in next season’s Champions League after winning the Europa League in May, and are one of the most famous teams in Spain.
