Leeds United secured a brilliant 3-0 away win over League One high-flyers Peterborough United on Sunday in the FA Cup – and Peter Crouch has applauded Patrick Bamford for his stunning strike.
Coming into the game after a comfortable 3-0 win over Birmingham City at Elland Road, Leeds took on Darren Ferguson’s side on Sunday. Daniel Farke made a number of changes to his starting Leeds side.
The likes of Jamie Shackleton, Ilia Gruev, Willy Gnonto, Jaidon Anthony and Bamford all got a go in the side, as Leeds ran out 3-0 winners. Bamford ended his goal drought in the win against Birmingham.
On Sunday, Ampadu gave Leeds the lead – and netting a second after Bamford scored a quite superb volley. Ampadu had previously scored just one goal in 221 games, for all of his clubs – and his country.
Two on Sunday, as Leeds cruised into the third round. But it was Bamford that stole the plaudits, the striker controlling the ball on his chest before lashing a volley into the net. Crouch reacted on Twitter.

Bamford’s goal was a real sign that he is back to his best. The kind of technique we saw in his hat-trick against Aston Villa, or his curling effort past Kasper Schmeichel in the 3-1 away win over Leicester City.
Bamford has always had a gorgeous left-foot and the ability to finish the hardest of chances, when he does not have to think about it. On Sunday, you could tell he was shooting – before he pulled the trigger.
That is two goals in two games for the one-time England striker. Hopefully, it is the start of Bamford’s return to form in the next few weeks, something Leeds need in the race for automatic promotion.
