Leeds United take on Newcastle United on Saturday evening and Paul Merson has predicted the result of the clash at Elland Road, after disappointing results for both sides.
Newcastle come into the game having suffered a late 3-2 loss to Liverpool at St James’ Park. Arguably, one of the best performances fans will see of a losing side, as The Toon went toe to toe with 10 men.
Will Osula equalised late on, only for Rio Ngumoha to score in the final seconds. Newcastle were superb but there are issues on Tyneside and it could make it difficult for Eddie Howe’s men at Elland Road.
Gordon’s red card will see him suspended, while Alexander Isak continues to refuse to play for Newcastle until he gets his move. Sandro Tonali and Joelinton both came off injured in the second half on Monday.

Paul Merson says it is the ‘perfect time’ to play against Newcastle
Leeds meanwhile, come into the game after a 5-0 hammering against Arsenal and then losing to Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup. Two dismal results that have taken the shine off a 1-0 win over Everton.
But, Leeds do return to Elland Road on Saturday and will look to use the home support to their advantage with a win over Newcastle. Paul Merson gave his prediction on Sports Keeda, backing a 1-1 draw.

“This is the perfect time for Leeds to take on Newcastle and they should try to make the most of it. Leeds will be disappointed about losing to Sheffield Wednesday. I expect a better result this weekend,” he said.
Leeds United’s injury concerns ahead of Newcastle clash
Leeds will almost certainly be without midfield duo Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka, with both picking up MCL injuries. Ampadu is expected back after the international break while Tanaka is out for a few weeks.

Elsewhere, Noah Okafor told Farke he was injured against Sheffield Wednesday, picking up a groin issue. Farke described Okafor as being a “major doubt” ahead of Newcastle and that will come as another blow.
So, while Newcastle could be without two key midfield components as well as Gordon and Isak, Leeds have their injuries and absences, too. It will be interesting to see who starts for Leeds come Saturday.
