Paul Merson has predicted a Fulham win over Leeds in his Sports Keeda column, underlining his exasperation at what has happened at Elland Road over the last fortnight – with Leeds suffering 5-1 and 6-1 defeats in their last two.

A solid first-half against Crystal Palace saw Leeds go within a few minutes of the half-time break, leading. Instead, Palace equalised and Palace put Leeds to the sword in the second 45, winning 5-1. Liverpool ran riot at Elland Road.

Leeds held them out for the first 30 minutes but Liverpool hardly got out of third gear to beat Leeds with ease. Now, Javi Gracia is in need of a result and next up is Fulham. A team Leeds have already lost to, twice during this season.

Merson gave his verdict on Leeds and the last couple of results that have come at Elland Road. He cannot believe what has happened, and the goal difference impact means Leeds have lost a point. He predicts a 2-1 Fulham win.

“What has happened to Leeds this past week? Their goal difference was outstanding, but they’ve now lost their last two games by an aggregate margin of 11-2. They’ve basically conceded a point. Crazy,” Merson told Sports Keeda.

“Leeds are always going to score because of the way they play, but these are worrying times. The slump has come at the wrong time. When you concede that many, they’re not just defeats – it could come down to goal difference.”

Paul Merson predicts Fulham win over Leeds, stunned by last results

Merson is bang on. Leeds were on -11 goal difference, a good total given that the rest of the bottom eight sides had less. But, the last two games, has seen Leeds go to -20. We still have a better GD than three of the bottom four.

But Leicester, who Leeds face next Tuesday at Elland Road, are on -14 and that could be as good as a point come the end of the season. Of course, it depends on whether 17th and 18th sit on the same points, as they do right now.
