Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt are both struggling to get into the Leeds United side this season but the former has claimed that striker Gelhardt reminds him of himself, always asking for new tips.
Bamford and Gelhardt both sit behind Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe in the pecking order. Bamford has been warming the bench while Gelhardt has had to recover from a hand fracture in the last few weeks.
However, Gelhardt had struggled to get into the matchday squad even prior to the injury. But, Bamford has applauded Gelhardt as being one of the only Leeds youngsters to take tips from him at Elland Road.
Speaking on a new podcast with comedian Joe Wilkinson, Bamford said the only player that has really tried to take tips from him as a more experienced player is Gelhardt – reminding him, of his former self.

“There’s some youngsters – Joffy – when I was younger I liked being able to ask the more-experienced players who had been around and achieved a lot, little tips,” Bamford said, on My Mate’s A Footballer.
“Joffy is the only one since I’ve been at Leeds, who has wanted to learn all the time. Always looking for tips. It might not be the next year or two years that makes him grow massively, it will in the long term.”
Patrick Bamford: Leeds man Joe Gelhardt reminds him of himself
Gelhardt is a talent but he needs a loan in January. It is has not worked for the youngster over the last 18 months, joining Sunderland on loan last January and managing just three goals in 20 games for them.
He needs to go and join a Championship side where he can get regular game time and rediscover his best form, reigniting some confidence in order to save his stuttering Leeds career. Or, find a move away.
