Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has been asked on the latest episode of his podcast which player he would clone to field a full team.
This means that Bamford would, of course, be up front, but the rest of the starting XI, from goalkeeper to out wide, is made up of the same player in 10 different positions.
Of players he has played with, Bamford named West Ham loanee Kalvin Phillips as a potential option, while also putting Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold forward due to his incredible ball-striking technique.
However, there is one player from Manchester City that Bamford spoke about really highly, and that is Bernardo Silva, despite the fact his height would be a real issue as a goalkeeper.
Speaking on the ‘My Mate’s A Footballer Podcast‘, Bamford says his team would never lose the ball if it was made up of just Bernardo Silva, as it is impossible to get near him when he’s in possession.

He said: “I feel like if I had a whole team of Bernardo Silvas I would never lose the ball, ever. He is honestly one of the best players. He is not very fast, but you cannot get near him when he’s got the ball. He’s just so good at using his body, low to ground, and his technique is a joke.”
It is difficult to disagree with him here. There is a reason Bernardo has been so key to much of Man City’s success under Pep Guardiola over the last few years.
The 29-year-old can play both as a deep or attacking player, as well as out wide, and his versatility makes him a very good answer to this question by Bamford.
Bamford would certainly get plenty of chances playing ahead of a team full of Bernardo’s, and with the form he is in at the moment, you would back him to take a lot of them.
He has scored seven league goals in just nine starts this season which is actually one of the best runs in front of goal he has ever had at Leeds.
