Pablo Hernandez has posted on his Instagram story after watching Leeds United suffer relegation following a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road – reassuring Leeds fans that the Whites will be back in the top tier.
After another disastrous season, Leeds were relegated on the final day – having survived on the last day the term beforehand. A woeful display against Spurs ensured our fate, with Everton and Leicester also winning matches.
Leeds had to win and hope that Bournemouth beat Everton at Goodison Park – while West Ham prevented from winning Leicester. Ultimately, the results as badly as Leeds could have hoped – but we deserved to be relegated.
Plenty of change is now expected, from top to bottom. Potential takeover from the 49ers with Andrea Radrizzani buying Sampdoria, replacing Victor Orta, replacing Sam Allardyce and a big turnover of players in the summer.
Hernandez, who is fighting for promotion to the second tier of Spanish football with Castellon – a club he part owns – reacted to relegation on his Instagram story. He described it as a sad day but is confident Leeds will return.

If Leeds are to return at the first attempt, then things must be sorted before the transfer window starts. Radrizzani needs to vacate himself from owning any percentage of Leeds – and sell up. But he might decide to remain.
Indeed, he may prefer to see if Leeds return to the Premier League at the first attempt before selling – allowing him to rake in a Premier League fee for Leeds. But, surely, he will understand that change is needed and must cash in.
Then, we need a sporting director. Some have been linked but until the ownership is decided, nothing can happen. Then also, a new manager – and many decisions to be made on the playing staff. Plenty to do, and quickly.
