Cody Drameh‘s Birmingham City suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Hull City on Wednesday night as Wayne Rooney’s men were booed off the pitch – but Birmingham Live report that the Leeds loanee impressed.
Drameh, 21, has been superb for Birmingham since joining the club on loan from Leeds – playing almost every minute for the Blues. He has completed 90 minutes on both occasions, since Rooney took charge.
But on Wednesday night, after a 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough on the weekend, Rooney watched his first game as Birmingham boss at St. Andrew’s. It was poor. A dismal 2-0 home defeat to an impressive Hull.
Liam Delap and Hull’s danger man, Jaden Philogene got the goals for Hull with Birmingham offering very little. Birmingham Live did their player ratings after the match. £1m Drameh came in for surprise praise.
Earning a 7/10, journalist Alex Dicken said: “Drameh played Philogene really well. He limited the number of shots and crosses, despite being forced to defend one-v-one against him on countless occasions.”
Leeds loanee Drameh impresses despite Birmingham losing 2-0
It is interesting how Drameh cannot perform when given the chance for Leeds – but when he goes out on loan, to Cardiff, Luton and now Birmingham, he has starred. He is impressing for the Midlands club.
In half a season at Cardiff, he won Player of the Season. In half a season at Luton, he played a key role in promotion. Now, he is under Rooney’s stewardship and things have not started well, after Rooney joined.
His contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the current season and Drameh will be looking to place himself in the shop window. Birmingham may eye a permanent move – but other clubs will be interested.
