Oliver Casey signed his first-pro contract at Leeds United this week – and he is everything a Leeds fan wants.
The 17-year-old defender has impressed the Leeds academy enough to hand him a contract until 2020. It is likely that he will feature in Carlos Corberan’s second string soon.
But it was a video, posted on the Leeds site, just before his new deal that will have captured the hearts of Leeds fans. In the clip, Casey admitted that he was a boyhood fan of the club.
He did not stop there. Casey was born in Leeds, “loves a tackle” and his favourite game was the 1-0 FA Cup win over Manchester United.
A fan at the heart of the Leeds defence has seen Pontus Jansson endear himself to the Elland Road faithful. Not a Leeds fan from birth, Jansson’s passion makes him a fan favourite.
In years to come, there is no reason why Casey can do the same. Highly-rated in the Leeds academy, Casey has taken the first steps into the long road to the first team.
Fans will be keeping an eye out for one of their own in Casey because he boasts all the traits of a fan favourite.
