Wycombe Wanderers have beaten Leeds United to the signing of Man City midfielder Kian Breckin.
The League One side confirmed on their official website this morning that the 19-year-old has arrived on a season-long-loan deal from the Premier League champions, beating off competition from a number of sides.
According to the Daily Mail in May, Breckin had emerged as a target for Leeds following a string of impressive performances for City’s U21s.

Newcastle United were also among the sides linked with a move for Breckin amid his concerns over a lack of pathway into the first team at City.
City have lost a number of talented academy players on permanent deals in recent seasons, including Darko Gyabi to Leeds 12 months ago for £5 million.
Leeds beaten to signing of Breckin by Wycombe
Breckin scored eight goals in 24 appearances for City’s U21s last season and is clearly viewed as a big talent at the Etihad Stadium.
A loan move to Wycombe will allow him to receive his first taste of senior football and a provide him with a crucial next step in his development.

It also feels as though Leeds’ interest in the midfielder hinged on whether they were able to retain their Premier League status, with the Whites having placed a great deal of emphasis on academy recruitment since promotion in 2020.
However, with Leeds now in the Championship again, their priorities may well have shifted elsewhere, with a greater need for signings who can make an impact immediately.
Leeds already have a number of youngsters between the senior side and U21s and Breckin would’ve only been another addition to that.
