Beren Cross has told a Q&A session on Leeds Live that Leeds United would still go and get a “deal done” for manager Arne Slot if Feyenoord soften on their stance of the Dutchman – with Feyenoord previously rejected his exit to Leeds.
Slot, 44, has excelled since entering the world as a manager. A decent 18 months at AZ Alkmaar has been followed by a superb spell at Feyenoord. He is approaching two years at the club. He has won 49 of 82 games in league and cup.
In his first season Feyenoord finished in a decent third. They also got to the final of the Conference League – losing to Jose Mourinho’s Roma. This term, Feyenoord sit top of the table. Two points clear of his old side AZ after 21 games.
The Independent report that Leeds made an approach to bring in Slot. But the manager ruled himself out of a move to Leeds last week, telling fans he is creating “something beautiful”. Cross thinks, though, Leeds could still bring Slot in.
“If it became clear Feyenoord may be open to letting Slot go in three or four weeks, Leeds would absolutely get that deal done. As it is, the targets they like all look difficult to do in the near future,” Cross told a Q&A on Leeds Live.

A report from The Independent states that Slot would cost a figure of £5.75million if Leeds were to buy him out of his Feyenoord contract. A figure easily affordable for Leeds. But it depends on whether Feyenoord are willing to let him go.
If Cross says that there is a chance Feyenoord could soften their stance on Slot, then it is encouraging. But the chances are that Feyenoord continue to keep hold of Slot. For Slot, he has told fans he is staying and need to make a u-turn.
