Leeds United are reportedly closing in on the appointment of Javi Gracia as manager until the end of the season as an eventual replacement for Jesse Marsch – Simon Jordan gave his honest opinion on TalkSPORT on Tuesday (10.05AM).

Gracia, 52, seems set to take the job with Leeds handing him a four-month contract until the end of the current season. It comes after Leeds were rejected by a number of managers – and then decided to hand Michael Skubala the reigns.

But, Skubala failed to stop Leeds losing a second of three games under his caretaker tenure on Saturday. While the performances against Manchester United were encouraging, Saturday’s loss to Everton was woeful. A 1-0 defeat.

Not only a loss, but a team that looked devoid of confidence. A team that did not look as though it knew how to win. The Leeds board, to their credit – which has been in short supply – reacted. They look set to appoint Spaniard Gracia.

Gracia is out of work after leaving Al-Sadd, having won the Qatar League title with Santi Cazorla’s side. He is expected to arrive at Leeds today in order to put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season. Jordan gave his verdict.

“He was unlucky to lose his job at Watford. I remember watching his Malaga team and they were not in a bad side. Given the circumstances, a bit of a lucky dip, this is not an insensible choice. He might get a tune out of these players.”

Simon Jordan gives honest opinion on Leeds appointment of Javi Gracia

Gracia seems to be, as Jordan says, a decent appointment. A manager that has impressed in the Premier League and having reached the FA Cup final in his first season in English football – he could even help us go far in the Cup.

But given the circumstances and the position we currently find ourselves in, Gracia is decent. It could have been a car crash – Alfred Schreuder, for example. But finally, Leeds fans are happy and it looks like, Marsch will be replaced.
