The Mail claim Leeds United have offered Javi Gracia a four-month deal that includes bonuses to come in as boss – with Leeds sitting in the drop zone with just 15 league games left to save the club from dropping to the Championship.
Gracia, 52, emerged as the front runner to take over at Elland Road on Monday. Michael Skubala was expected to take over for the upcoming fixtures, but after a bitterly disappointing 1-0 loss to Everton – the Leeds board have swayed.
They now have targeted Gracia. A man with Premier League experience, managing Watford for 65 matches – lasting 18 months at Vicarage Road. Given Watford’s trigger happy approach to coaches over the years, an achievement in itself.
He also got to the final of the FA Cup in 2018-19. Since then, he has managed Valencia and won the Qatar League title with Santi Cazorla’s Al-Sadd. He has been out of work since the summer, but Leeds could be about to change that.
Indeed, The Mail report that Leeds have offered him a four-month deal to take him until the end of the season. The deal will also include bonuses – the likeliest being that Leeds will offer him a fee if he keeps the club in the top tier.
