Leeds United have turned their attention to Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams, in a potential reunion with manager Daniel Farke – and he is everything that embodies what Leeds supporters want, apart from one thing.
Williams, 22, managed just one senior outing for Erik ten Hag’s side last season – with injury and plenty of other players ahead of him in the pecking order keeping him out. He entered the final year of his £53k-a-week contract.
The Independent report that Leeds want to sign England Under-21 star Williams. It is likely that a move will be on a permanent basis. Leeds have needed a left-back for quite a while and Williams has the potential to solve the issue.

Ever since Charlie Taylor left the club, Leeds have been desperately trying to replace him – but failing. Gjanni Alioski, Barry Douglas, Laurens De Bock, Junior Firpo and others have tried – failing. Firpo is expected to leave Elland Road.
Leeds have Stuart Dallas – but he remains injured. Leo Hjelde is showing signs of promise but the Norwegian star also has interest in his services – from Salernitana. The final option is Sam Byram, who remains on a trial at Leeds.

But Williams has the potential, technical ability and aggression to fill the void left by Taylor – who has also been linked with a move to Elland Road. Williams is more than adept at going forward – but getting back in to shape too.

Hard work is a key element if a player is to thrive at Leeds. The second is aggression. Leeds fans loved Rodrigo’s passion towards the end of the season, even if it wasn’t successful. That heart-on-the-sleeve style appeals to us.
Williams has this. He has everything a Leeds fan wants in a player – connection with fans, passionate performances, aggression in tackles and defending. The only thing that fans won’t like, is that he is a Manchester United player.
Can Leeds, and the club’s fans look past this? Leeds clearly can – bringing in Dan James and others from the Old Trafford club in recent years. But it might take Williams a bit more time than most, to win the Leeds fans over.
