New Leeds United target Sam Curtis has picked up Ireland’s Young Player of the Season award after shining for St. Pat’s during the 2023 term – the youngest to ever win the award in Ireland’s history.
Curtis, who turned 18 over the weekend, is showing huge potential for one of Ireland’s biggest sides at the moment. Already, the Ireland U21 international has played 60 senior matches for his boyhood club.
During the 2023 campaign, Curtis – who has captained Ireland’s U18 side from the right of defence – played 39 times for St. Pat’s during 2023, having a hand in six goals. He scored three, creating three.
St. Pat’s finished in third place with Curtis excelling, qualifying for the second round of the Conference League qualification stage. Curtis’ form has not gone unnoticed, with Leeds in the mix for his signature.
A report from 90Min recently said Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City and Celtic were all keeping tabs on Curtis, as well as Leeds, Hull and Middlesbrough. A move is now expected.

His award will do him no harm, especially given he is the youngest to ever win the award, just turning 18. Past winners include Wes Hoolahan, Paddy McCourt, Niall McGinn, Daryl Murphy and Enda Stevens.
Curtis recently featured for Ireland’s U21 side in a game against Italy, in which Willy Gnonto scored a brace having been demoted from Italy’s senior squad. The January window is likely to see Curtis move.
Leeds have options on the right of defence, but Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, Sam Byram and Stuart Dallas are all out of contract at the end of the season. Djed Spence only remains on loan from Spurs.
