Glen Kamara clocked up his first 90 minutes of the 2023-24 season as the new Leeds United star came close to helping his Finland side get something from Denmark – and HBL gave their take on his display.
Kamara, 27, joined Leeds from Rangers in the last 48 hours of the transfer window. A long-winded saga that finally got over the line in the last couple of days of the market. Kamara is lacking in match fitness.
The Finland ace did not play a single minute for Rangers during their first nine matches of the season. He was left out of the squad ahead of an impending move. Leeds finally got it done, costing £5.5m.
Kamara made his first outing of the season last week, playing a crucial role in Finland’s winner against Kazakhstan – coming off the bench. On Sunday, he started, lasting 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Denmark.
Finland came close to a very solid draw against The Danes, only for Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to lash home a shot from all of 25 yards. HBL gave Kamara 7/10, but did have criticism of our new man.
“Matcho trained and it was noticeable in some sequences. Read some situations completely crazy. Had some good passes up but hesitated as he should have gone for the finish himself,” HBL summarised.

Kamara is going to take a few games to get back to his best. So, it was good for Leeds that the star has clocked up 120 minutes of competitive, international football – a rusty Kamara has sharpened his tools.
Now, he returns to Thorp Arch better for it. It might just be enough for Daniel Farke to consider starting the Europa League finalist on Sunday. He has Ethan Ampadu, Archie Gray and Ilia Gruev to choose from.
