Leeds United loanee Max Wober has been blasted for his performance in Austria’s 3-2 defeat to Belgium on Friday.
In player ratings by the Salzburger Nachrichten, Wober’s display was labelled as ‘weak’, with his impact at both ends of the pitch also deemed ‘inadequate’.
Wober was one of eight first team players to leave Leeds on loan in the summer and has been among the best performers at club level, out of that group of players.

The 25-year-old, despite Borussia Monchengladbach’s struggles as a team, has been receiving consistent praise for his performances, predominantly playing on the left of a back-three.
However, for Austria, Wober was tasked with playing at left-back, something which he clearly struggled with as Belgium right-winger Dobi Lukebakio scored twice.
Austrian media blast Wober performance
As per the Salzburger Nachrichten, Wober was a weak link in the first half, was not good enough defensively and also contributed nothing going forward.
They wrote: “Remained offensively pale. In the back, the ex-bull, who was already a weak point in the first leg, had his hands full. Defended inadequate, especially at 0-3. Weak.”

For anyone who has seen Wober play it is pretty clear he is not a left-back, which makes his arrival at Leeds in January all the more strange, given that is what was needed at the time.
Wober is not good enough on the ball to contribute anything productive as a left-back tasked with getting forward, while his lack of pace is also a hinderance.
Thankfully for Austria, Wober’s performance and their defeat does not look like it will prove costly, as they sit in an excellent position to secure qualification for the EUROs with just two matches remaining.
