Tyler Adams is reportedly ‘more open’ to staying at Leeds United in the Championship in comparison to some of his teammates.
That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who provided a positive update on the future of Adams to Give Me Sport, as he continues to be linked with a move away.
Adams has already seen a host of his teammates from last season move on this summer, including USA international compatriots Weston McKennie and Brenden Aaronson.
Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo have also headed for the exit door, with Adams’ midfield partner Marc Roca on the verge of joining them.
Aside from Rodrigo, who left permanently for a fee in the region of £3.5-£4m, Leeds have only been able to move on the bulk of their players on loan deals.
Adams ‘more open’ to staying at Leeds compared to others
For Adams, though, it is a different story with San Francisco 49ers Enterprises having identified him as a player they would like to keep this summer.
As such, Leeds are said to be commanding a fee of around £25 million, which no club has matched yet, but according to Jacobs, Adams is ‘open’ to remaining at Elland Road.
He said: “Compared to others, Tyler Adams was definitely more open to the Leeds project and the challenge of trying to get them back into the Premier League first time.
“But there is, of course, interest and uncertainty over his future. I think that Leeds are fighting to retain him. He is recovering from injury as well, which is probably why it’s been a bit more of a delayed clarity over his future.”
This would, of course, be huge if Leeds are able to keep Adams, with the 24-year-old clearly a top-level footballer.
There isn’t a better ball-winning midfielder than him in the Championship and stick a real quality possession based player alongside him, and it could be quite the partnership.
That said, this feels like one of those sagas that will continue to rumble until the end of the window.
