Leeds United are reportedly closing in on a move to sign Chelsea outcast Ethan Ampadu in a deal worth an initial £7m deal – and Larry Nance Jr, an NBA star that is part of the 49ers Enterprises, has dropped a hint a move is close.

Monday seemed to be a turning point for Leeds. Not only did numerous reports come out of the club that they were close to making signings – in the likes of Ampadu, Glen Kamara and more. But, the takeover was ratified by the EFL.

There was a concern that Leeds would not make any senior signings until the takeover had been ratified by the EFL – but now, that is in place. Time to move. Ampadu looks set to become the club’s first senior signing this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal is in place for Ampadu to sign for Leeds. A medical is booked in and he could actually sign today. Prior to Romano’s new update this morning, New Orleans Pelicans star Nance Jr dropped a hint.

He actually retweeted a Tweet from Romano on Monday, which said a £7m deal was in place with agreement on all sides and personal terms sorted. Clearly, Ampadu is on his way to Leeds – ending his Chelsea stint after four loans.

Ampadu is a wonderful signing. Able to play on the right side of central defence, and in the middle of the park – his addition adds some much-needed depth into areas where Leeds are lacking. Three right-sided defenders have left.

Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen have gone and Ampadu’s arrival, as well as the return of Charlie Cresswell solves that area. In midfield, Ampadu comes in as Adam Forshaw and Marc Roca exit. Smart addition.
