Max Wober was on the pitch at full-time as Leeds United secured a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest as the Austrian continues to nurse a hamstring injury – and he had praise for his centre-back partner Robin Koch on Instagram.
Leeds picked up a seventh League win of the season but a third in six games since Javi Gracia took charge. A huge win that sees Leeds go from 18th in the table, to as high as 13th. Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra got the goals.
Koch, meanwhile, is enjoying his best season at Leeds. In the midst of a relegation battle, and players going in and out of the side, in and out of form, Koch has been one consistent alongside Illan Meslier. He has been a mainstay.
Having joined Leeds in 2020, the 26-year-old only managed 38 outings in his first two seasons. Well, this season he is on course to eclipse that total. He has started 28 of our 29 League games, and played twice in Cup competitions.
Superb in the air, excellent on the ball and ridding himself of his injury woes, Koch has been pivotal to Leeds this season. Once again, on Tuesday night, he was crucial in stopping Forest – and he posted on Instagram afterwards.
Wober praises centre-back partner Koch on Instagram as Leeds win 2-1
Koch has been absolutely fundamental to the fight Leeds have put up this season. He has had to deal with multiple centre-back partners in Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk, new signing Wober and Diego Llorente. But he is the constant.
The Germany star is first choice and the undisputed no.1 centre-back at Leeds. Wober is the man to go alongside him at the moment and while Wober has been just as immense, he is injured. Struijk was excellent on Tuesday night.
Indeed, it was Wober – Koch’s arguably best centre-back partner this season – that was among those to praise Koch. Having been seen at full-time, Wober responded to Koch’s Instagram post to label the German a “machine”.
