Max Wober has taken to Instagram after the Leeds United defender picked up an injury while on international duty with Austria, suffering an issue to his left thigh – but Wober has eased concern, describing the issue as “small”.
Wober, 25, started for Austria on Friday night at left-back as he helped Ralf Rangnick’s side get off to a winning start in Euro 2024 qualifying. A comfortable 4-1 victory over Azerbaijan. But Wober was taken off on 34 minutes.
The versatile defender was pictured clutching his left thigh and was able to walk off the pitch. Rangnick spoke after the game, stating that Wober had an issue and it was unsure regarding the severity of the star’s muscle problem.
Austria take on Estonia on Monday night in their second game of the break, and it is more than likely that Wober misses out. Either rested, or simply unable to feature. Now, Wober has given an update, saying the issue is “small”.

It is one of three big injury blows to surface at Leeds in the past week or so. Tyler Adams with a hamstring issue before the win over Wolves – which sees him remain a doubt for Arsenal on Saturday. Now, Wober is in doubt too.
Willy Gnonto, meanwhile, rolled his ankle against Malta on Sunday and Roberto Mancini confirms the winger has picked up a strain. That is likely to see him miss the next game, possible even two. A real stroke of bad Leeds luck.
For Wober, hopefully the defender will be given a rest tonight against Estonia and he can focus on recovering in time to take on Arsenal. If the game at The Emirates comes around too quick – it is likely Liam Cooper replaces him.
