Reports say Lewis O’Brien is a possible signing for Leeds United before the end of the transfer window and Mateusz Klich is a huge fan of the midfielder – naming him the best player he has played against.

O’Brien, 24, has been strongly linked with a move to Leeds over the years – mostly, in the summer of 2021 with Marcelo Bielsa at the helm. But he moved to Nottingham Forest in 2022, starting a tricky year.

Impressing in the first half of the season at Forest, he was then ousted from the 25-man Premier League squad. It saw him go on loan to MLS side DC United, playing 19 times under Wayne Rooney with Klich.

Klich held a Q&A session on Instagram this summer and having played with and against O’Brien in the Championship with Leeds – alongside him at DC – he was asked which player is his toughest opponent.

As per TBR Football, Klich replied on his Instagram story – which has of course, expired. But he tagged O’Brien in the post on his story, stating the red-haired star was the hardest player has has to mark.

O’Brien a possible Leeds signing: Klich is a huge fan of midfielder

Get him in. Just do it, Leeds. Signing the likes of Jonjo Shelvey or another defensive midfielder is a waste of time. We need progressive midfielders to go alongside Wales star Ampadu – O’Brien is that.

Glen Kamara has been linked, too. He would be a really good signing, proven at European level and with his National Team, of Finland. But, O’Brien has that touch more creativity and at 24, is value for money.

A bargain at £10m, he would be a sensational signing for Leeds. Whether we can get it done and finally get the long-term target to Elland Road is another question, but if the chance is there – then do it.
