Mateusz Klich has reminded fans that Leeds United remain very much in his heart with a post on his Instagram story on Sunday evening – underlining his delight at Leeds picking up three points on Saturday, as well as new side DC United.
Klich, 32, made his debut for MLS side DC after joining Wayne Rooney’s side on a free transfer from Leeds in January. He opened the scoring in a bizarre game, a 3-2 win over Toronto. Driving forward in the middle, he had a go at goal.
His effort flew into the bottom corner. Toronto came from behind to lead 2-1 as the game entered injury time. But, it was DC that won the match – Christian Benteke equalising on 90 minutes and Theo Ku-DiPieto getting the winner.
A great weekend for Klich as he got off the mark in the most-perfect way, lasting the entire 98 minutes. But he showed Leeds fans that the club remains very much in his heart. With both clubs winning, he says it was the perfect weekend.

A brilliant goal and start for Klich in the MLS, as he looks to get the game time to earn a place back in Poland’s side before Euro 2024. Meanwhile, the 1-0 win over Southampton was one of our biggest since returning to the top tier.
The victory sees Leeds climb out of the relegation zone in what was Javi Gracia’s first game. Now, Leeds’ attention turns to the FA Cup and the potential of a place in the last eight. A trip to Fulham’s Craven Cottage, on Tuesday night.
DC and Klich are next in action on Saturday evening, or Sunday morning, with a trip to Columbus Crew – with kick-off scheduled for 12.30AM on Sunday. Gracia is expected to speak to the media on Monday ahead of the Fulham clash.
