Mateusz Klich has joked there is ‘nothing to see in Birmingham’ when asked about Wilfried Gnonto’s refusal to play for Leeds United.
Klich was responding to a Leeds supporter on Twitter who asked him what his thoughts are Gnonto’s situation at Elland Road, which turned extremely messy last night.
After ruling himself out of contention for the Carabao Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday, Leeds released an official statement on Friday evening confirming he has also refused to play at Birmingham City this afternoon.
The Whites confirmed Gnonto will now be the subject of an internal disciplinary with Leeds also no publicly stating he will not be sold this summer.
Everton are extremely keen on signing him before the end of the window with Fabrizio Romano claiming Gnonto has already agreed a five-year-deal at Goodison Park.
Klich provides response to Gnonto’s refusal to play for Leeds
Amid all the frustration directed at Gnonto for how he has handled the situation, Klich instead opted to look at the funny side of the matter when asked about his opinion.
He said: “Can’t blame him, nothing to see in Birmingham.”
This isn’t the first time this summer Klich has provided a response to a player looking to force his way out of Elland Road, having done the same with Max Wober.
Klich publicly laughed off claims from Wober in his first interviews as a Borussia Monchengladbach player that stated he is a ‘warrior on the field’.
Despite having left himself in January for DC United, Klich has remained a fan favourite at Leeds and will continue to do so for as long as he keeps interacting with supporters.
