Leeds United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night at Elland Road as Raul Jimenez scored the only goal of the game – but the Mexican could have been sent off, and Mateusz Klich thinks so.

Leeds dominated the first 45 minutes but failed to find the back of the net, with Patrick Bamford having a header ruled out for offside. Wolves made a tactical change and looked better in the second half, and took the lead late on.

A tame Jimenez effort was deflected into the back of the net, off the head of Kalvin Phillips. The scoreline remained 1-0 until the full-time whistle, but there was still controversy up until the end of the match – involving goalscorer Jimenez.

Down Leeds’ left flank, summer signing Robin Koch tackled Jimenez which forced the striker to the floor – with the momentum taking him off the pitch. But it was Jimenez’s reaction to the tackle that angered Klich.

Jimenez appeared to kick out, which was confirmed during replays – landing his kick in the private areas of Koch. The kick out did provoke a reaction from some Leeds players, but the referee gave a free-kick to Wolves.

VAR decided against overruling the referee’s decision, but Klich has vented his frustration on Instagram by posting a picture of the incident on his story – capturing the exact moment in which Jimenez makes contact with Koch.
