Martin Keown has told BBC Sport’s coverage of Portugal’s stunning 6-1 win over Switzerland in the last 16 that Raphael Guerreiro is a full-back that can score goals like a striker – amid reports that Leeds want to sign the Euro 2016 winner.

France-born Guerreiro, 28, has enjoyed a wonderful World Cup campaign. Playing in three of Portugal’s four game, rested against South Korea, the left-back has had a hand in three goals. He got an assist in the 6-1 rout on Tuesday.

That, alongside his goal. He also laid on an assist for Portugal in a 2-0 win over Uruguay. Portugal and Guerreiro, amid the drama of Cristiano Ronaldo, find themselves with a golden chance to reach the semi-finals – with Morocco next.

Keown co-commentated on the game for BBC Sport’s highlights show. He heaped praise on Guerreiro for his goal, in which he blasted an effort into the roof of the net. 90Min claim Leeds are scouting him, with his deal ending next June.

“Lovely flowing move. Pass, move. Look at the movement off the ball. He’s just got acres of space to pick his spot, and he hits it into the roof of the net. That is a full-back who finishes like a striker,” Keown said during commentary.

Keown: Guerreiro can score goals like a striker amid Leeds reports

What a player Guerreiro is. A Euro 2016 winner, he has become somewhat of an icon at Dortmund. Part of the furniture with the German club since joining Dortmund in 2016 – clocking up 206 appearances, having a hand in 76 goals.

Do Leeds stand a chance of signing Guerreiro? Probably not. But the club are certainly showing interest and if Leeds do get a deal over the line for the Dortmund star, then it would be one of Victor Orta’s best-ever deals. Unlikely, though.
