Jesse Marsch may indeed get the chance to stay in the UK in his first managerial role since leaving Leeds United, with the American reportedly now in contention to take the Celtic job.

The Hoops, of course, look set to lose Ange Postecoglou. And according to Sky Sports, Jesse Marsch is one of the names in the frame to succeed the Tottenham-bound Australian.

It would be a surprise to see Marsch get the Bhoys job. His time with Leeds was a real disappointment. And he certainly played his part in the relegation that would come a few months after his departure.

Having said that, he did extremely well in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg. So Celtic may be hoping that that job stands him in good stead if he gets offered the chance to take over at Parkhead.

Interestingly, there is a player on Celtic’s books who Leeds fans are somewhat familiar with. So perhaps Marsch will get an opportunity to work with them in the near future.

Yosuke Ideguchi was an infamous addition for Leeds. The Japan international signed for the Whites in January 2018 before immediately being loaned out to Cultural Leonesa – remember them?

Marsch may get chance to work with Leeds flop Yosuke Ideguchi

Ideguchi would spend just 18 months on the books with Leeds – leaving a few years before Marsch’s arrival. However, he would never get the chance to make a competitive debut for the club.

So it was very surprising when Celtic made a move for Ideguchi in 2022. Unfortunately for the midfielder, his time at Parkhead is yet to get going. And he is currently out on loan once again.

As things stand, it is hard to see Ideguchi making the grade at Celtic. However, with every manager change, there is an opportunity. And there is some time left on his contract.

So when his loan ends at the end of the year, there may be discussions had about what the future holds for him. And it will be interesting to see from there whether he gets a fresh chance.

Certainly, it would be quite something for Leeds fans if Marsch ends up managing Ideguchi at Celtic.
