Leeds United are reportedly interested in a move to sign Palmeiras left-back Joaquin Piquerez despite the Brazilian club being keen to keep him – and Nosso Palmeiras say Leeds have made an enquiry, the player is rated at £7m.
Piquerez, 24, has starred for Palmeiras over the last couple of years – joining the club in 2021. Already, Piquerez has played 103 times in all competitions for the Brazilian side, having a hand in 14 goals. His form has attracted Leeds.
That is according to Torcedores, who say Leeds have opened talks to land the left-back. A player with nine caps for Uruguay, the last of which came under Marcelo Bielsa – a 2-0 win over Cuba. But Palmeiras do not want to sell him.
The latest report states that Palmeiras – despite being under the guidance of ‘poor management’ – want to keep the left-back. But the story also states that Piquerez is rated at a fee of £7m. His contract will expire in December 2025.

Leeds need a left-back and it seems the priority, as things stand, will be to strike a deal for Brandon Williams in the coming days. He is more likely too – an ex-Daniel Farke player, contract ends in 12 months, keen to exit Old Trafford.
Piquerez, though, is better than Williams. A player that has earned the chance to move to Europe, starring for one of Brazil’s biggest sides. He is now a regular with Uruguay and clearly, he has earned a seal of approval from Bielsa.
Williams is a deal easier to strike and there is no doubting the Manchester United defender has plenty of talent and potential. But if there is a chance to pull at Palmeiras’ arm for Piquerez, then it would be a wonderful bit of business.
