Manor Solomon teases Leeds United with four-word message on Instagram

Manor Solomon has had his fair share of stand-out moments since joining Leeds United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer.

There was that brace in the thrilling 4-3 victory at Swansea City. A stunning solo display as Leeds United gave their supporters an early Christmas gift in the four-goal obliteration of Oxford United at Elland Road.

Solomon was ‘unplayable’ alongside Dan James and Joel Piroe, meanwhile, as Watford became the latest team flattened by Daniel Farke’s free-scoring steamroller earlier in February.

Yet, arguably none of Manor Solomon’s seven goals in a Leeds shirt can match his stunning long-range strike against his current employers two years ago today.

Manor Solomon looks back on Fulham stunner against Leeds United

Now, the Leeds faithful may not thank Solomon for reminding them of the goal which ended the Yorkshire giants’ FA Cup journey on this day back in 2023.

Yet, Solomon could not help himself but mark the two-year anniversary of a spectacular effort which left Illan Meslier helpless and Leeds exiting the game’s oldest club competition at the fourth round stage.

To quote Fulham’s official website, a truly ‘world-class strike’.

And one that Solomon is understandably keen to look back on, the accompanying laughing emoji the telltale sign of a man who knows he has more than enough credit in the bank with his current employers to aim a cheeky dig into Leeds’ ribs.

To say that Solomon has made up for sending a Leeds side then coached by Javi Gracia packing would be quite the understatement.

Next to the aforementioned James and the Golden Boot-chasing Piroe, the Tottenham loanee is a major reason why Leeds are entering the Championship run-in five points clear at the top of the table with comfortably the most goals in the division against their name.

Solomon has contributed seven of those 71 goals.

Understandably, the Leeds faithful are clamouring for that temporary deal to turn into a permanent one. But Daniel Farke is pleading patience, insisting that whether Solomon stays for at least another season in West Yorkshire could be decided by whether their latest promotion pursuit is a success or not.

Daniel Farke gives update on potential Solomon deal with Tottenham Hotspur

“I always like to be in the drivers seat,” Farke explains. “But we are not [right now]. There is a time to speak about the future but not during the season.

“Sometimes, we talk behind the scenes. But, right now, it is crucial to make a decision once we know what division we are in.”

Tottenham reportedly value Solomon, who once scored Champions League goals against Real Madrid and Manchester City in the colours of Shakhtar Donetsk, at around £10 million.

“Yeah, for sure, I think Leeds want to keep the player,” Fabrizio Romano told Give Me Sport this week.

“Obviously, you need to get promoted because Manor Solomon is a player from different levels, so there will be probably more clubs interested from the Premier League.

“Again, at the moment, is not something really advanced yet.”

Speaking of anniversaries, while Solomon looks back on his FA Cup thunderbolt in a Fulham shirt, Leeds host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday exactly five days since Marcelo Bielsa’s charges ripped The Baggies to pieces in a 4-0 Elland Road thrashing.

A repeat performance, if not a repeat result, which see Leeds take another considerable step towards a return to the Premier League.
