Manchester City are reportedly ready to allow Cole Palmer to leave The Etihad on loan this summer with those at City hoping he would have progressed quicker into the first team – and Leeds United have got to be on red alert.

Palmer, 21, has broken into Manchester City’s first team over the last couple of seasons and there is a hope that he could be the next Phil Foden. Able to break into the senior side regularly, have a real impact on Pep Guardiola’s XI.

But, he has not progressed as quickly as Foden. While he clocked up 25 senior outings for Manchester City this season, he only started seven times – scoring only one goal. The Mail claim City are ready to send Palmer on loan.

He has not yet gone out on loan during his time at City. Something Guardiola chose not to do with Foden. But now, it appears that they feel Palmer needs experience. City will prefer Palmer joins a Premier League team for 23-24.

However, the chances are he would be linking up with a team in the bottom third of the top tier – and he may not start games regularly. City need to pick a team operating at a good level, but are winning games and scoring goals.

Leeds, meanwhile, could end up selling Jack Harrison, Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra over the course of the next few weeks. So, Leeds need wingers – and could need two or three additions on the flanks.

Palmer is perfect. Leeds and City have a good relationship thanks to deals done for Darko Gyabi and Kalvin Phillips. City will know Leeds will play attacking, attractive football in the Championship as the Whites look for promotion.

So, landing Palmer on loan would suit Manchester City, it would suit Leeds because the club need a winger and clearly, Palmer would be a wonderful signing at Championship level. Palmer would play 50 games, which suits him.
