Tyler Adams’ proposed move from Leeds United to Chelsea has broken down.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who reports the two parties have been unable to reach an agreement and as such, Adams is now expected to return to Elland Road.

Chelsea had triggered the £20 million release clause in Adams’ contract that became active after Leeds‘ relegation from the Premier League in May.

Adams had undergone a medical ahead of his proposed move but it will now no longer be happening, with it unclear at this stage what the disagreement is down to.

The 24-year-old has also been linked with moves to Brighton and Aston Villa this summer, and it would not be a surprise at all if either now came in for him with three weeks left of the window.

Adams’ move from Leeds to Chelsea breaks down

Chelsea have been at the centre of an intense transfer saga in the last 48 hours alongside Liverpool involving Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

After three failed bids from Liverpool for Lavia, Chelsea then saw an offer of their own rejected by Southampton for the midfielder on Wednesday.

Chelsea have also been chasing Caicedo throughout the summer but have been unable to reach an agreement up until this point, with Liverpool having a £110m bid accepted last night.

Caicedo’s preference, though, remains a move to Stamford Bridge and as a result has turned down a switch to Anfield, and is now expected to join Chelsea.

Brighton will now be in the market for Caicedo replacements and Adams is someone who has been on their radar throughout the summer, and could be one to watch.
