Crysencio Summerville has told the club’s website that winning Leeds United’s Player of the Month award for October is a “major boost” for him – after a stunning bout of form over the last few weeks.

Summerville, who turned 22 last week, has taken his tally to 10 goals and assists in just 12 league games this season. Five of his six goals came in October, including braces against Norwich and Huddersfield.

Not only did he score five goals in five games last month, but he also laid on three assists – and that is even though he did not start against Stoke City, a 1-0 loss without the Netherlands Under-21 attacker.

Well deserved by our no.10, who gave his reaction to the club’s website on Wednesday evening after the club announced he had won the award. He described it as a major boost, and thanked the club’s fans.

“It’s a major boost for me. I hope I can continue playing well for the club. Leeds has the best fans and I want them to come to Elland Road, so I can hopefully create many more special moments for them.”

Cree Summerville on major boost after Leeds announcement

Summerville has been exceptional for Leeds this season. But even more so, in the last few weeks. His combinations with the likes of Georginio Rutter and Dan James have been particularly eye catching.

Along with the likes of Illan Meslier, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Ethan Ampadu and Rutter – the young Dutch talent has made himself completely undroppable. If Leeds do gain promotion, he will be crucial.

With January approaching, Leeds must do absolutely everything within our power to keep the winger at Elland Road. Failure to do so will be an enormous blow to our chances. Forget the money, keep him.
