Luton manager Matt Bloomfield shares which division he thinks Leeds United will be playing next season

It was a third straight draw for Leeds United on Saturday afternoon as Daniel Farke’s side lost more ground in the fight for automatic promotion, failing to overcome relegation-threatened Luton Town.

But a Luton side who came into the game having won three out of the last five, and were putting up a fight against the drop. Matt Bloomfield has got this Luton side fighting for their lives down at the bottom.

They took advantage of Leeds’ poor form of late by opening the scoring. Ao Tanaka was criticised by Daniel Farke in his post-match press conference, with the Japan star guilty of another mistake yesterday.

He gave the ball away in midfield and allowed Luton to counter, ending up with Jones volleying home a Luton cross. But Dan James restored parity soon after with a left-footed shot from the edge of the area.

The draw sees Leeds go to 82 points, but slip into third place with Burnley coming from behind to beat Coventry. Sheffield United though, suffered a shock defeat to Gary Rowett’s Oxford United on Saturday.

It’s all to play for, two points separating the top two with Sheffield United and Burnley having to play against each other this month. Bloomfield said which division he thinks Leeds will be playing in next term.

“I expect Leeds to be playing Premier League football next season. Lots has been made about their recent form but they’ve only lost once in 24 games, Daniel Farke knows this division and how to get out of it.”

Six games to go, the chance to win 18 points but the objective is simple, win more points than Burnley and Sheffield United. What will help, is that the two sides face each other at Turf Moor on April 21.

A huge game that will see one of the two, if not both, drop points. Leeds are next in action on Tuesday night when they go to The Riverside to take on Michael Carrick’s fifth-placed Middlesbrough.

Then it is three home games from the next four – Preston, a trip to Oxford, returning for Stoke and Bristol City before a humungous trip to Plymouth on the final day. Six games to make or break Farke’s tenure.
