Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts have both sent messages of good luck to Robin Koch after his departure from Leeds United on Thursday.
Koch posted a thank you to Leeds supporters on his official Instagram account with his move to Eintracht Frankfurt having been completed late last night.
The 26-year-old will be moving to the Bundesliga on an initial season-long-loan, but due to his contract situation at Leeds he has likely played his last game for the club, which reflects in the statement.
Frankfurt have agreed to pay a loan fee and the entirety of his wages to seal the transfer for Koch, whose deal officially expires at Leeds in less than 12 months’ time.
Koch played 36 matches as Leeds were relegated last season but also did a tonne of work off the pitch around the city, including become a Children’s Charity Ambassador.
Ayling and Roberts respond to Koch’s parting message
Koch delivered his parting message to supporters on Instagram, stating it is a club he will never forget and hopes he will be remembered fondly after his exit.
He wrote: “Dear LUFC fans, at this point I look back on three wonderful and exciting years in Leeds. To play for Leeds United and in front of you unforgettable fans, to defend these colours, to celebrate with you, to even lead the team onto the pitch as captain, was a special honour and pleasure during the last three seasons.
“All the moments I have experienced together with you and especially at Elland Road, great victories and bitter defeats, have made me the person I am today. These are impressions and feelings that cannot be put into words and that have made me very proud and happy that my path as a professional footballer has led me to this club. I have taken Leeds United into my heart.
“I have met many, many great people here up to this point, and my greatest thanks go to them. To all the people in charge at the club, all the staff, my coaches, my teammates and, of course, you fans!
“I wish the club, the city and you only the best and hope you will remember me well. I will definitely do so. Thanks for everything so far! Yours Robin.”
Ayling and Roberts are two of Koch’s former Leeds teammates to send their well wishes, with the former hailing him as a ‘brilliant human’.
Koch’s parting message did not go down too well on social media among supporters but it is now time to move on from these players.
The defender was clearly one who never stopped trying, but ultimately, like with many others, he just wasn’t good enough in the Premier League.
He should instead be fondly remembered for all the work he did off the pitch in the city, even if it does go unnoticed by fans.
