Luis Sinisterra given familiar nickname after Leeds star's heroics

Leeds United fans’ excitement about seeing more of Luis Sinisterra has only increased after a stunning international break in which the winger scored three goals for Colombia.

Sinisterra changed the game in San Francisco on Tuesday. He was brought on while his side were 2-0 down to Mexico. But he went on to score twice in what proved to be a 3-2 victory.

Of course, Leeds have already had a glimpse of what the winger can do. He scored the equaliser against Everton. And he found the back of the net against Brentford on his full Premier League debut.

With Daniel James now gone, you would imagine that Jesse Marsch will be very keen to hand Sinisterra another start against Aston Villa this weekend.

It is hard to not draw parallels with Raphinha.

Leeds fans are already scratching their heads wondering how Victor Orta landed the 23-year-old. And his performances on the international stage look set to do the Whites few favours when it comes to keeping Sinisterra for a long time.

Luis Sinisterra labelled ‘mago’ after Colombia win

But one comment on his latest Instagram post hints that it may be another fan favourite he goes on to be compared with in years to come.

Sinisterra has taken to social media to comment on the latest win. And Leeds fans may have taken note of the reply from Andres Andrade.

Andrade – who made his international debut in 2021 – labelled Sinisterra ‘mago‘, which translates as the magician.

That description will strike a chord with supporters as it was, of course, the nickname given to Pablo Hernandez.

For a long time, Hernandez was arguably the best player Leeds had had since relegation in 2004. And no one single player did more to get the Whites promoted to the top-flight.

It will be a long time before Leeds fans probably feel prepared to use that word for Sinisterra. But it certainly further highlights what a special talent we could have on our hands.
