Liverpool defender and Scotland captain Andy Robertson has praised Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper and the Whites ace came off the bench to help Scotland secure a clean sheet in their 2-0 win against Spain on Tuesday.
Scotland produced one of the biggest results in their footballing history with the victory at Hampden Park. Scott McTominay got both goals, with the Manchester United man lashing a left-footed volley in for his side’s second.
Indeed, McTominay – a player linked with Leeds in recent months – was excellent. As was the likes of Robertson, Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, Villa’s John McGinn and plenty of others. A quite superb win to the delight of the crowd.
Cooper entered the fray on 75 minutes, replacing the impressive Tierney as Steve Clarke looked to solidify his side’s two-goal advantage. He did just that. WhoScored report he only touched the ball seven times, but four clearances.
Indeed, he also won an aerial duel. A brilliant win for Scotland and a decent cameo from the Leeds skipper – his first outing since February 5, Jesse Marsch’s last game in charge. It comes at a good time, with Max Wober possibly out.

The Austrian has picked up a muscle injury and is unlikely to be available to play against Arsenal this weekend. He is not the only casualty, with Tyler Adams undergoing a hamstring op and then, Willy Gnonto picking up an ankle issue.
With Cooper now getting some minutes under his belt, he is better prepared for a tough trip to the Gunners on the weekend. Liverpool star Robertson was seemingly impressed, posting a picture of the duo, saying “the main man”.
