Leeds United loanee Marc Roca has refused to rule out a return to Real Betis next season.
Roca was speaking in an interview with ElDesmarque where he was asked on his start to life at Betis after joining the Spanish side on loan during the summer.
As per Betis’ sporting director Ramon Planes, Roca called every day in the weeks leading up to his return to Spain as he looked to push through a move from Leeds.
Roca was one of eight members of last season’s first team squad to leave Leeds on loan across the window, despite having only joined from Bayern Munich on a five-year-deal 12 months earlier.
In fact, of Victor Orta’s major summer signings in 2022, only Wilfried Gnonto is still at the club, highlighting just how poor of a window it was for Leeds.
Roca refuses to rule out Betis return after loan
Speaking in an interview this week, Roca says while he is not looking too far ahead, he has left the door open for a permanent switch to Betis at the end of the season.
He said: “This season, with the loan, I am very comfortable and happy, we’ll see. Let’s see how everything evolves in the coming months. These are things that have to be talked about, two clubs that have to agree, and then there’s me. I like to live day to day, I am focused on the present and eager to help the team.”
The deal that took Roca to Betis on a temporary basis did not include any sort of purchase option meaning at this stage, he would have to return next summer.
However, Roca has made a good start to life back in Spain and it does appear as though there is a willingness from all sides to convert his move into a permanent one.
Leeds will be hoping Roca can continue how he has started at Betis so they at least make back what they paid to sign him from Bayern, meaning it would be a move that suits all parties.
