Leon Osman has told Premier League Productions (30/05) that he would “love” to have Leeds United striker Rodrigo at Everton ahead of the summer – suggesting that if he was fit for the whole season, Leeds might have stayed up.
Rodrigo, 32, is more than likely to leave Leeds this summer. The club’s top earner, he has entered the final year of his contract. There will be plenty of interested clubs after his signature after scoring 15 goals in a difficult season.
Indeed, it is widely expected that a return to Spain is on the cards for Rodrigo. Perhaps a mid-table side, or one in European competition. But as things stand, nothing is concrete – it won’t be, until a decision is made at board room.
But, Everton need a striker. Dom Calvert-Lewin has spent more time on the sidelines than on the pitch over the last year, and Neal Maupay is clearly not the man Everton are choosing to rely on. Osman wants Rodrigo at Goodison.
“He is a player a lot of teams will look at. As an Everton fan, I would love to have him. He was injured for a large part of the season. Leeds definitely missed him. If they had him for a lot longer maybe they would have done more.”

Rodrigo is certain to leave and while there could be interest from Premier League clubs, you would widely expect the striker to return to Spain. Rodrigo has always had a good relationship with Leeds fans. Everton would end that.
Of course, Leeds fans will more than understand an exit and a potential desire to go. He is in the final year of his deal and it suits Leeds to sell him this summer, in order to rake in a fee for his services. We cannot afford his wage.
