Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira has given his honest take of Leeds United following our 1-0 win over the Foxes on Friday night – and singled out Illan Meslier for praise, on Leicester’s website.
Georginio Rutter got the only goal of the game on Friday night as Leeds secured a pivotal victory at the King Power. A bit of a surprise result, given the way Leicester have started the Championship campaign.
Indeed, the Foxes have still secured 39 points from a possible 45 after 15 games. But, it was a real sign of intent from Leeds on Friday. The Whites were excellent. Although we rode our luck, deserved to win.
Pereira, who is approaching six years at Leicester after joining the Foxes in 2018 for £20m, spoke after the defeat to Leeds. The Portugal star gave his take on Leeds, and praised Meslier for his very late save.
Indeed, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall thought he had equalised in injury time, climbing over Luke Ayling to direct a header into the top corner. But Meslier clawed it away, earning us all three points at Leicester.
“Knew they were good in transitions. We dealt well with that but that’s football, sometimes it happens. If [Dewsbury-Hall’s chance] goes in, it’s a different game but the ‘keeper [Meslier] made a very good save.
“We had some chances. They have very good players. It was difficult to find space. We tried to keep the ball as much as we could, to not give them chances because they’re very good players,” Pereira said.

Leeds were absolutely excellent. A really good weekend for the Whites, with Leicester of course failing to pick up any points – and second-placed Ipswich only drawing away at Birmingham City on Saturday.
With one more match until the November international break, Daniel Farke’s men deserve a lot of praise. These last few weeks, Leeds have looked the best they have all season. Promotion is a real possibility.
